Under the banner of ‘OK Publishing’, (borrowing the name of Navin’s father’s fabric store in Chiang Mai, OK), this was the inaugural comic that started Navin’s continuing trend of an associations with manga in his works. In this slightly cruder version of the more polished recent publications, our hero Navin returns to his home in Chiang Mai to catch up with his peers, recounting the amazing adventures on his worldly travels. Unfortunately Navin’s friends are not fairing so well, all of them spiritually lost or financially ruined by the dramatic collapse of the Thai baht. Reflecting the same plight that many in Thailand suffered as a result of the 1997 economic crash, Navin ends with a positive spin as he whisks them all on a magic mat for a Vancouver vacation.
