Traces of Siamese Smile: Art+Faith+Politics+Love
Bangkok Art and Culture Center, Bangkok, Thailand

As the inaugural exhibition of the Bangkok Art and Culture Center, the Bangkok version of Super(m)art project (2004) is included in a large scale international exhibition curated by Dr. Apinan Posayananda, Director of the Office of Contemporary Art & Culture. The large Bangkok Survivors painting referencing people related to Thai art was presented along with a supporting chart providing details of who’s who in the Thai art feast starting with Prof. Silpa Brisrasri, the founder of first art university and who is considered the father of Thai Modern Art. A pair life-size sculptures of Old Navin and Curatorman stand next to a photograph of themselves taken in front of the Art Center while still under construction. The text Do You Need A Museum? was painted on the photograph and above is a black banner headlining the same question followed by a short text narrating the tale of both protagonists and their fight on the establishment of the first Art Castle in Thailand. Nearby, is a plinth displaying Curatorman Inc.’s gold trophy and signed certificate noting the inaugural Most Inspirational Super Curator of the Year (2008), awarded to the exhibition’s curator.
