Early in August 2007 Navins and Friends of the Navin Party gathered from around the world for the 9th Navin Party Congress in Beijing. For the occasion the Navin Party published their first book, Quotations from Comrade Navin. A one hundred and twenty-eight page collection of Navin’s thoughts, the volume outlines the purpose of the Navin Party and the basics of Navin wisdom through a variety of Navin quotes, including quotes from the Party’s Chairman among others. Right after its release, this book was widely distributed in Beijing from the first day of their congress. Sadly however, propagation of the text had to halt when on next day, police held Chairman Navin for extensive questioning and compelled him to sign a form guaranteeing he would never distribute in China again.
part of their congress in Beijing, Navin Party also conducted their first major propaganda campaign in China. The intent was to find Navins, make friends and enlist cooperation in the Navin Party’s quests, in particular the quest to find the Lost Kingdom of Navin which is thought to lie somewhere around the Western border region of China. To celebrate this campaign, the Party released the first series of five woodblock propaganda posters including: Navin Party, Comrades Navin, They Love You Comrade Navin, In Search of the Lost Kingdom of Navin, and Navinism. They were printed exclusively in Chinese and signed by the Chairman.
Navin Party set up a site-specific installation at Tang Contemporary Art – Beijing’s Charm and Chasm exhibition. Over the gate of the grand red entrance to the presentation center hung a majestic portrait of Chairman Navin, while on the left wall was a graffiti text of the slogan to the 9th Congress: “All Navins are Comrades. All Non-Navins are Friends”. Over on the right hung a large propaganda painting entitled Imagine Navin, which represented major Navins of the world employing their strengths in the Navinist cause to build a bright future. Through the gate was a large panorama painting entitled Long Live Navin!, which portrayed the image of the Chairman in his infamous Pha Khao Mar suit gathered with Navin Party Cadre and countless Congress delegates in front of Tiannamen Square. Along the corridors of the center was a display of Navin Party propaganda posters and photographic. On either side of the center were video rooms, one presenting the Party’s fundamental film Navins of Bollywood, and the other a documentation of the Congress in Beijing.
