A private commission for Bangkok based French collector, Jean-Michel Beurdeley, Navin Production created a driveable artwork in the form of a painted Mexican VW Beetle taxicab. Constructed round a Mayan inspired comic book, the Mayan Taxi was never exhibited and remains at the Beurdley residence and gallery in downtown Bangkok. Occasionally seen out on the streets of the city with Beurdeley and his wife Patsri Bunnag at the wheel, the curving shell of the VW is adorned with images of the car’s owners along with a Mexican Elvis, as well as famous artists Diego Rivera and his wife Frida Kahlo.
