Aren’t You Navin?
2006
Gallery Atelier, Fukuoka, Japan

For the first Navin Party instalment, this exhibition made a transitory daily office space inside the gallery complete with desk, books, and computer, from where the project team searched online for Navins across the globe. Evolving from a documentation of process, the project team posted the results of their research around the gallery’s wall space updating the information on a daily basis. The phone conversations Navin Rawanchaikul had with other namesakes in Singapore were also displayed as video clips and a map on the wall chartered the virtual journey and progress, with Indian curries from Navin restaurant in Osaka becoming the first tangible sourced material.
