How to be a Successful Curator
2004
3rd Liverpool Biennial
Liverpool, UK

After the Bangkok exhibition the philosophical art battle between Old Navin and Curatorman continues, with the artist hoping to revive his fading art career when he is invited to the 2054 revival of the Liverpool Biennial. As a counter strike to arts possible re-emergence, Curatorman and his team of profiteers decide to head to Liverpool to launch a board game – How to be a Successful Curator. In the Tate Liverpool, SUPER(M)ART set up a large installation centred round a play area where visitors could sit and compete against each other on the specially designed board game. On the surrounding walls was a montage of images including paintings of famous curators from around the world. Heavy on public participation, the board game match winners were posted on the walls in a competitive league, with winners receiving a special trophy as well as having their photo taken which would then be transferred into a fresh interpretation of the Veronese masterpiece. Unfortunately the large painting was never finished.
