Commemorating the 4^th anniversary of the Navin Party, Navin Production threw a party on March 18, 2010 at the private gallery of Bangkok-based French collector Jean-Michel Buerdeley and his wife Patsri Bunnag. Located inside their residential compound, the Pipit Maya Gallery’s top floor was filled with recent works from the Navin Party series, including the first showing of a large elaborate painting of Navins community, Who is Navin? (2010), which is a tribute to The Beatles’ imaginary community depicted on the sleeve cover of their 1967 Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band album.

Serving specially prepared Cajun cuisine alongside live Jazz music, the highlight of the event was featuring the 2008 Narvin’s Party project created for an art festival in New Orleans. The project’s 10-minute video documentation centred upon a funeral procession for the legendary Jazz musician Narvin Kimball, a founding member of the famed Preservation Hall Jazz Band. Shortly after Hurricane Katrina, Mr. Kimball passed away in 2006 at his daughter’s home in South Carolina. His body was taken to New Orleans to be buried, but the situation after the hurricane was very difficult. Having discovered their shared namesake on the internet through the misspelling of “Navin”, and sad in the knowledge that he did not have a proper funeral, the Navin Party teamed up with The Preservation Hall Jazz Band in celebrating the life of Narvin Kimball with a traditional Jazz Funeral befitting the man.
