A part of a bi-annual Museum City Fukuoka community-based art exhibition, Navin Production appropriated Fukuoka’s renowned yatai, a Japanese refreshment stall, inside the city’s largest shopping mall. A relaxing place to sample the special toxic drink – Dr. D Cocktail, it was also a site to read and collect Navin Production comics and buy other associated merchandise ranging from pants to t-shirts and pillows. The specially made cocktail was supposed to resemble rat urine from the monster vermin featured in the comic book Mai Pen Rai Yatai, whose deadly pee will poison the city’s water supply unless superhero Mai Pen Rai Man and extraterrestrial Taximan can defeat the giant beast.
