The Zero space which is Not Empty
1994
Art Forum Gallery, Bangkok, Thailand

Held at the now defunct Art Forum Gallery in Bangkok, the minimal exhibition was set up in the main gallery room with only one person allowed to enter at a time. When the door was closed no-one could enter, and being the actual gallery entrance this meant only one person could be in the gallery at a time. The entire room was painted in gleaming white boosted by bright fluorescent lighting. Expectant people would struggle to search for the exhibiting artwork but once their eyes had adjusted to the brightness they would notice a subtle word on each of the five walls “I, My, Me, Mine, Myself” egocentric references to the artist. The words became art objects with the notion of facing yourself in the gallery, meaning that the individual in fact becomes the artwork.
